If you’re anything like me, thoughts of Christmas mean snow-dusted landscapes, cozy evenings by the fire, and endless opportunities for family adventures. Currently living in Portugal, I’m trying to adjust to the Christmas trips to the beach and the more mild winters.  While I love not having to drive in the snow in Portugal, I crave white Christmases!  We’ve made a deal that we will alternate Christmases at home and abroad and try to catch some snow when we are away.

Our recent family getaway to Château-Bromont in Quebec delivered all that I was hoping for and more! It was a true winter wonderland, and we were on a mission to soak up the snow. Let me tell you, this adventure was one for the books. The temperatures dipped as low as -18°C, but the magic of the experience made every frosty moment worth it.  Some of us froze, but I reveled in the crisp air and snowy landscapes. We had high hopes when we booked French Quebec for Christmas, and Château-Bromont and Bromont, Montagne d’expériences exceeded every expectation. Just an hour or so outside of Montreal, this lovely ski resort greeted us with fresh snow every day of our visit!

We could see the slopes from our condo at Château-Bromont. It is so amazing to have a ski in/ski out condo when you’re traveling with kids!

Our ski-in/ski-out condo made ski days about 1000% easier with kids—no hauling gear in and out of the car back and forth or battling long walks in ski boots. Renting equipment right on-site saved us a ton of hassle, too. The mountain looked well maintained during our visit, and we saw ski patrol on the slopes. Seeing them there reassured me.

Where Is Château-Bromont and How To Get There

Château-Bromont.

Château-Bromont is located in the heart of the Eastern Townships in Quebec, Canada, at the base of Mount Bromont. Plan your driving route and allow extra time for traffic and winter road conditions. Our drive from Montreal took about an hour.

Our drive from Montreal was easy and stress-free.  Most of the drive is on a plowed highway, and we found the roads to the resort to also be well-maintained.

If you are flying, Montréal-Trudeau International Airport (YUL) is one airport option. Plan ground transportation to Bromont for your dates; you can rent a car for the drive. If you are already nearby, use the map for Bromont village to explore local dining, shopping and other stops.

Our Stay: A Winter Wonderland for the Whole Family

We truly experienced our winter wonderland! Perfect for the Christmas season—it felt so cozy.

We went during December, and our family of seven (yes, all five kids in tow!)  had the pleasure of enjoying our stay at Château-Bromont in one of the townhomes. Nestled at the foot of the Bromont mountain, this charming hotel perfectly blends comfort, style, and family-friendly amenities.  You can literally see the slopes just steps away from the condo, which is amazing.

Our condo was a one-bedroom with a loft.  It sleeps six in beds (two in the bedroom and four upstairs in the loft), and we had a teen on the couch.  There is one full bathroom for all, as well as a complete kitchen and washer and dryer (a major bonus when skiing with kids).

I also loved some of the smaller touches, including that they had a Christmas tree all set for us to enjoy cozy winter holiday vibes. The stunning views of the snow-covered slopes were a dream to wake up to every morning.

Our package included daily breakfast, which was a delicious spread every morning—think fresh pastries, fruit, and warm, hearty dishes. It was wonderful to enjoy this with a comforting cup of hot chocolate each day!

The kids seemed to enjoy just about everything during our stay at Château-Bromont—haha!

The hotel’s current page lists 166 rooms and suites. Room features vary, so check the details for the accommodation you book.

As a family, we made the most of the on-site facilities. The indoor and outdoor pools were a hit with the kids—they couldn’t resist a quick swim and dip into the outdoor hot tub, even in the heart of winter! The heated water and their excitement made it a memorable experience.

Running from the inside door to the hot tubs through the snow is a fun memory from the trip, and no one complained at all once we were in the lovely hot tub.  The snow was falling, and we could reminisce about the beautiful slopes we skied on just hours earlier.

The fitness center was also a nice option for keeping active, though the slopes often gave us all the workout we needed!

Dining at Chateau Bromont: A Culinary Treat for All Ages

We enjoyed a fancy dinner night out at their restaurant.

One of the highlights of our stay was undoubtedly our dinner at Château-Bromont’s gourmet restaurant. Chris and I enjoyed every bite of our four-course meal, savoring everything from rich appetizers to decadent desserts.

And for the kids? The children’s menu was spot-on, with dishes that kept everyone happy (and quiet—always a win at a restaurant!).  They were so tired from skiing that they didn’t quite make it through the meal, but they loved the ice cream at the end.

Breakfast each morning was equally impressive. There’s something about starting your day with a hot meal and a view of snow-covered mountains that sets the tone for adventure.

For lighter bites or drinks, guests can also visit the Beagle Club, a cozy spot perfect for winding down in the evening.

Skiing Adventures for Everyone at Bromont Mountain

We thoroughly enjoyed our two ski days at Bromont Mountain Ski Resort. We rented our equipment on-site, which added to the ease of taking five kids skiing.

The Slopes at Bromont Mountain

Whether you’re a seasoned skier or a total beginner (like our little one, Grace), Bromont offers runs at a range of levels. Trail openings and evening access change through the season; check the resort’s current conditions and schedule before planning your ski days.

The smaller kids had a blast gliding down the gentler slopes, while Chris and the teens took turns exploring some of the more challenging runs. I roped in the older ones to help with the littlest when getting on and off the six-person, high-speed lift chair and getting her down the mountain for the first time.

Lunch Options for Your Ski Day at Bromont Mountain

Bromont currently allows packed lunches in most areas, though exceptions apply at the Chalet du Sommet and the Refuge in the Chalet du Village; microwaves are available in some chalets. Check the mountain’s current FAQ for details. We chose the café for lunch during our visit. We found the options delicious and plentiful. We enjoyed soup, hot chocolate, salads, and poutine. The hearty fries with cheese curds and sometimes meat are a dish we found best to share.

At the time of our visit, café options were around $10–15 CAD per person. That is a historical price snapshot; check current menus before budgeting.

After Skiing at Bromont Mountain

Honestly, there’s no better feeling than returning to the hotel after a full day of outdoor fun, sinking into a cozy armchair, and wrapping your hands around a steaming mug of hot cocoa.  Skiing wears you out in a way that is very different from your normal routine and leaves you feeling satisfied.  We curled up with some Christmas movies each night and enjoyed our snowy getaway.

Beyond skiing, Bromont has seasonal outdoor activities. What is available depends on the time of year. I hope we can return to enjoy the water park in summer.

Seeing the mountain at night adds to the experience.  In fact, I saw that in 2025, they are offering passes to ski from 5 pm to 1 am!

Taking It Easy at Château-Bromont

Two guests sit in chairs in a hotel lobby.
Is there anything better than a real fireplace in the winter?  Château-Bromont has several to enjoy.

Obviously, we are big on travel.  I find that we get more time with our teens while traveling than we get during several weeks at home!  We love the bonding that happens while we travel.  Ski trips are a lot of work (and expensive), but fun when you can share experiences as a family.

This trip reminded me a lot of our time at Brian Head Resort in Utah. While the settings were different, the joy of seeing our kids tackle the slopes, enjoy delicious meals, and just spend time as a family felt so familiar.

There’s something special about these ski trips where the kids grow in confidence, and we get to share those little victories with them. Whether it was our youngest finally getting the hang of skiing or our older kids racing each other down the slopes, these are the moments we’ll treasure forever.

Why Our Family Enjoyed Château-Bromont

  • Spacious accommodations that comfortably fit larger families.
  • Thoughtful dining options for both adults and kids.
  • Proximity to Montreal makes this a quick drive from the airport.
  • Proximity to the slopes, with equipment rental available. We rented skis, boots, poles and helmets; check current rental details for your visit.
  • A warm, welcoming atmosphere that made us feel right at home.
  • Our family used the indoor pool and outdoor hot tubs during our stay. The hotel lists pools and hot tubs, but access for a condo booking can differ by package and season. Confirm access directly for your exact lodging and dates before booking. See the Chateau Bromont site for condo details.
  • On-site Amerispa for ultimate relaxation.  Adults can enjoy the thermal spa outdoors for some major relaxation.
  • For current terrain and evening access, use Bromont’s live trail conditions and schedule; the number of open trails changes through the season.
  • Trail access depends on season and conditions; check the current mountain or park trail information before setting out.
  • We saw other guests with their dogs!  Our dog isn’t travel-friendly (or stranger-friendly), but I enjoyed seeing others able to bring their furry friends along. The hotel has a dog policy, while the condo page prohibits animals in the units. Confirm the current policy for your exact booking.
